TYRONE, Pa. — July 12, 2026 — My Porchlight today launched its fractional family assistant service: one real person, shared by member households, who does the phone calls, the estimates, the appointments, and the follow-ups that keep a family running.

There is a category of work that runs every household: finding the contractor and checking that his license is real, comparing three roof quotes, disputing the bill that came back wrong, getting Mom's appointments and the school calendar and the furnace tune-up onto one schedule. It has been called women's work for a century, whoever was doing it. My Porchlight calls it family work. Either way it is rarely called what it is — work — it has never come with staff, and it has never had a price. My Porchlight's task menu puts a number on it: now we know what it's worth.

"Caring for my family, my parents, my friends, and my neighbors brings me real joy," said Brittany, founder of My Porchlight. "It's also a lot of work. And when someone asks how they can help, they don't know where to start. Your Porchlight assistant knows where to start."

How it works. Membership is $9.99 a month after a 7-day free trial and includes Home Base — one shared calendar, phonebook, document vault, and project space for the whole family. When a member wants something handled by a person, assistant work is priced per task in credits (about a dollar each): finding and screening a trusted provider, comparing three estimates, booking the service, handling a dispute. Each finished task comes back as a written brief — the options, the real prices, the questions to ask, the next step — that stays in the family's files.

Who profits — disclosed. When My Porchlight researches a service company for a member, the file includes who owns it: an independent owner-operator, a franchise, or a private-equity firm — and, where it can be verified, what the company takes in. My Porchlight sells no advertising and takes no payment from providers, so the research answers to the member alone.

Assistant services are available to households in the United States; the organizing tools are available anywhere.
