My Porchlight — Terms of Service

Legal entity: My Porchlight, LLC ("My Porchlight," "we," "us," or "our") Effective date: July 30, 2026 Governing law: Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

1. Binding Agreement

BY CREATING AN ACCOUNT, REQUESTING A SERVICE, OR USING MYPORCHLIGHT.US IN ANY WAY, YOU CONFIRM YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS OF SERVICE AND ALL POLICIES REFERENCED IN THEM. If you do not agree, do not use the service. We may update these Terms from time to time; updates are effective when posted, and your continued use means you accept them. The version in effect when you submit a request governs that request.

2. What My Porchlight Is

My Porchlight helps families and households share the mental load of running a home and life. When you subscribe to a paid Plan, we connect you with a real, U.S.-based Fractional Family Assistant (your "Assistant") who advocates, coordinates, researches, and follows up on your behalf — booking appointments, organizing documents, contacting providers, and keeping your projects moving.

Your Assistant is a human being. To do their job well, Assistants may use software, search tools, templates, AI, and other automation (see Section 4) — but the judgment, advocacy, and follow-through are theirs.

The No-Sponsor Pledge. Every Fractional Family Assistant is required, as a condition of working with us, to take the No-Sponsor Pledge: they earn no commission, referral fee, kickback, or other payment from any provider, vendor, or supplier they research, recommend, book, or otherwise engage on your behalf. Assistants are paid only by you, in Credits, through Porchlight. Recommendations are made on the merits. A provider may claim and maintain its own listing with us, but cannot pay to influence an Assistant, buy placement, or obtain a sponsored ranking — there is no sponsored tier.

3. What My Porchlight Is Not (Important)

My Porchlight is a coordination and advocacy service only. We are not a law firm, medical or healthcare provider, insurance agency or broker, financial advisor, real-estate brokerage, contractor, or other licensed professional, and nothing we do is professional legal, medical, insurance, financial, or other licensed advice. Your Assistant can help you find, contact, organize, and follow up with licensed professionals and service providers, and can help you understand and act on options — but you are responsible for your own decisions, and for retaining any licensed professional you need. Where a service touches a regulated area (for example, anything in our health, or insurance-and-legal categories), the Assistant's role is logistical and organizational, not advisory.

4. Automated Review & AI Assistance

When you submit a request or use our tools, your submission may be reviewed and processed by automated systems, including artificial-intelligence (AI) tools. We use these tools to read and organize your request, run preliminary searches (including web and map searches), and generate instant previews, initial results, and Feasibility estimates (Section 7) for both you and, on paid Plans, your Fractional Family Assistant. This automated layer is a fast first pass that helps your Assistant work efficiently, and powers the self-serve tools included with your membership.

You understand and agree that:

  • AI and automated output can be incomplete or wrong. Previews, search results, and Feasibility estimates are informational, are not professional advice, and are not a substitute for your Assistant's human judgment or your own decisions.
  • On paid Plans, a human Fractional Family Assistant remains responsible for the advocacy and follow-through. Automation assists your Assistant; it does not replace them.
  • To provide these features, we may share the contents of your request with third-party AI and search providers to process it on our behalf, as described in our Privacy Policy (myporchlight.us/privacy). We do not sell your personal information.

5. Membership, Plans, Credits & Billing

  • Baseline Membership. My Porchlight is a paid membership: $9.99/month or $99/year (prices may change prospectively with notice). Membership includes the self-serve Home Base — phonebook, calendar and reminders, homes and vehicles, documents and warranties, and calendar/contact sync.
  • Free trial. New accounts get a 7-day free trial with no credit card required — full access to edit and organize your Home Base during the trial. When the trial ends, if you have not started a paid membership your account becomes view-only: you can still view anything shared with you and export or delete your own data, but editing and Assistant services require a paid membership. One free trial per household, ever.
  • First recommendation on us. When you start a paid membership, your first researched recommendation (35 Credits) is included free — one per household, ever. It is a benefit of upgrading to a paid membership, not of the free trial.
  • Automatic renewal. Memberships and Assistant Plans renew automatically (monthly or annually, per your selection) and your saved payment method is charged at the start of each period, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize these recurring charges.
  • Cancellation. Cancel anytime — in the app under Account → Manage billing, or by emailing admin@myporchlight.us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep access until then, and you are not charged again. We do not prorate or refund partial periods except where required by law.
  • Refunds. Subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing period has begun, except (a) through the dispute process in Section 10, (b) where required by law, or (c) at our discretion for billing errors — if we've charged you in error, tell us and we'll make it right.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal charge fails, we retry it and notify you. We may suspend access if payment isn't resolved after a reasonable grace period, and cancel the membership after repeated failures. Reactivating requires a current payment method.
  • Payment disputes & chargebacks. If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us first (admin@myporchlight.us) — most billing issues are fixed within one business day, faster than any card dispute. If a chargeback is filed on a charge we believe is valid, we may suspend the account while it's investigated, respond to the card network with our records of your signup, usage, and these Terms, and — for chargebacks we reasonably determine to be fraudulent or abusive — terminate the account. Amounts you legitimately owe remain owed after a chargeback.
  • The Assistant Plan (upgrade). The paid Assistant Plan layers on top of membership ($79/month at this writing) and grants a monthly allotment of Credits. Credits are the unit of Assistant work (1 Credit ≈ $1): different activities consume Credits at different rates (for example, background research, phone meetings, and in-person time are priced differently; a standard researched recommendation is 35 Credits). You may subscribe to more than one unit of the Assistant Plan (up to four); each unit is billed at the same monthly rate and adds its own monthly Credit allotment. The Assistant Plan is an add-on and requires an active membership — it does not stand in for one. Current prices, Credit allotments, and rates are shown at purchase and may change prospectively.
  • Credit batches. You can also buy Credits outright in batches (100 Credits for $100 at this writing) without a subscription, via one-time checkout. Purchased Credits never expire while your account is open.
  • Service area. Fractional Family Assistants work remotely, anywhere in the U.S. Assistant work is performed by phone, email, and online on your behalf.
  • Account value cap. No account may hold more than $500 of standing Credit value at any time. Purchases that would push your balance past the cap are declined — use Credits on account before adding more.
  • Capacity constraints. My Porchlight is deliberately small. From time to time, capacity may be constrained and we may stop accepting additional Assistant work on an account (or generally). Work already accepted is completed or refunded under Section 9. If we pause new work on your account, you may apply for a refund of your remaining Credit balance — we will set the balance aside and process the refund to your original payment method (gift and promotional Credits are refunded as gift value or forfeited, as law requires). Your membership and Home Base are unaffected unless you cancel.
  • Credits are consumed, not banked as cash. Credits have no cash value and are non-refundable except through the dispute process in Section 10, or a capacity refund as described above. Monthly Plan Credits are usable for 35 days from the start of their billing period — the month itself plus a 5-day grace after renewal — after which unused Plan Credits lapse (they do not accumulate month over month). One-time Credit grants and purchased Credit packs don't expire while your account is open.
  • When Credits are used. Credits are allocated when you submit a request for Assistant work. If your billing period renews while a request is still awaiting an Assistant, the allocation remains valid for a 5-day grace period past renewal — an Assistant accepting within that window is honored against the period that funded the request. After the grace period an unaccepted request expires and its Credits are released; you can re-submit it under your new period.
  • Assistant Hours (prepurchased time). An Assistant Hours block buys a quantity of Assistant time within a window — for example 4 hours over 30 days — rather than a defined deliverable. What you are buying is the time and the attention, directed by the priorities you set at intake; it is not a promise of a particular outcome (Section 8 applies). Time is logged as it is worked and billed in 15-minute increments, rounded up, the way a professional clock runs: a 5-minute call is a quarter hour. You can see every entry, and the balance remaining, on the engagement's page as it is spent. Logging stops when the block is used up — an Assistant cannot overdraw you into a charge you did not authorize. When the window closes with time left over, unused time returns to you as ordinary Credits at the standard hourly rate (50 Credits an hour) if the block was paid for with purchased or gift Credits; a block funded from your monthly Plan allowance has nothing to return, because those Credits reset with your billing period either way. Blocks with a shorter window cost more per hour — you are reserving capacity that we hold for you and do not resell — and that premium is not returned.
  • Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card number.
  • Gift cards & gifted projects. A Porchlight gift is a prepaid code redeemable for service Credits on a My Porchlight account, optionally arriving as a ready-made project. Gifts: (a) never expire and carry no fees of any kind (no inactivity, dormancy, or service fees); once redeemed, the monthly membership fee is debited from the gift balance first (about 10 Credits for the $9.99 month) before any card is charged, so the gift keeps the whole service running until it is used up; (b) are not credit, debit, or general-purpose payment cards and can only be used for My Porchlight services; (c) are single-redemption, non-reloadable, and may not be resold; (d) are not redeemable or refundable for cash except where the law requires it. A gifted project is a suggestion, never a restriction — the recipient owns their account and may apply the Credits to any Porchlight service, including by deleting the gifted project. Treat gift codes like cash; we may require verification if we suspect fraud. Purchases of gifts are final except as required by law.

6. How Requests & Approvals Work

You create work as Service Requests inside your Projects. A Project is private to your account until you choose to share it. When you ask your Assistant to handle a request, the Assistant works through a defined set of steps and keeps a record of what was done.

At key moments your Assistant will ask for your Approval — for example, before committing to a quote, selecting a vendor, booking an appointment, or expanding the scope of the work. You are responsible for responding to Approval requests. Your Assistant acts only within the scope you approve. If you do not respond, work that depends on your Approval will pause, and unanswered Approvals may expire.

7. Feasibility & Best-Effort Service

Before your Assistant begins certain requests, we may show you a Feasibility rating — a good-faith, preview-only estimate, generated by the automated search and AI tools described in Section 4, of how readily the provider or outcome you're asking for appears to exist in your area, based on a search at that moment.

A Feasibility rating is an estimate, not a promise. It may be machine-generated, search results are incomplete and change over time, and some services, providers, or outcomes simply may not exist in your area, may be unavailable, or may not be obtainable on the terms you want.

When a request is rated Low feasibility — meaning the provider type may not exist locally or the outcome may not be achievable — we will tell you, and you must acknowledge and authorize a paid best-effort attempt before your Assistant proceeds. When you authorize Best-Effort Service, you understand and agree that:

  • You are paying for your Assistant's effort, time, and diligence — not a guaranteed result;
  • Your Assistant will make a genuine, reasonable attempt and document what they tried; and
  • If the provider or outcome turns out not to exist, or cannot be obtained, the request may close as a completed best-effort attempt, and the Credits spent on that effort are not, by themselves, refundable.

8. Outcomes Are Not Guaranteed

Your Assistant advocates for you, but cannot control third parties — vendors, contractors, insurers, healthcare providers, government agencies, courts, or others. We do not guarantee any particular outcome, price, timeline, or decision by a third party. Much like natural variation in a handmade product, a third-party outcome you dislike, or a limit revealed by Feasibility, is not by itself a defect in our service. What we stand behind is that your Assistant did the work, within approved scope, with reasonable diligence.

9. Timelines, Acceptance & Complaints

Business hours are Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm Eastern.

  • Offer window. When you submit a request (with your proposed Credit value), an Assistant will accept, decline, or counter within 16 business hours. Declined requests release their Credits back to you immediately.
  • Fulfillment window. Accepted requests are fulfilled within 40 business hours of the original request. AI pre-fills the response and leaves blanks where information is unknown. If more time is needed, the Assistant may take a one-time extension of 16 business hours — you'll be notified.
  • Acceptance & payment clearance. When your Assistant delivers, you have 16 business hours to review. If you file no complaint in that window, the delivery is deemed accepted and the Assistant's payment clears. Filing a complaint puts the Assistant's payment on hold while we review.
  • Remedy is Credits, not cash. If your complaint is upheld, the request's Credits are returned to your account, usable for 35 days. Subscription and membership fees are not refunded (see Section 5). For older deliveries, the dispute process in Section 10 applies.

10. Disputes & Resolution

We want you to feel well served. If you believe your Assistant did a poor job, here is exactly what happens.

Step 1 — Open a dispute (within the 7-day window). From the completed request, choose Dispute and tell us what was wrong (for example: required work not done, poor quality, work outside the scope you approved, or a no-show). This moves the request into review and pauses confirmation.

Step 2 — We review the record. My Porchlight reviews the evidence already attached to the request: the steps and any notes or files your Assistant submitted, the Approvals you signed, the time and Credits logged, the Feasibility rating shown to you, and any Best-Effort authorization you gave.

Step 3 — We decide. My Porchlight is the final and binding arbiter of disputes. Our decision is made in good faith on the record:

  • If we uphold your dispute (the Assistant genuinely under-delivered or worked outside approved scope), your remedy is the return of the Credits that the affected work consumed, returned to your household balance, and — at our discretion or your request — reassignment of the work to another Assistant. We do not issue cash refunds, and subscription fees remain non-refundable.
  • If we deny your dispute, the request is confirmed as completed.

What a dispute is not for. A dispute is not a way to undo work you approved, to recover Credits for a third-party outcome you were warned about, or to reverse a Best-Effort attempt you authorized under Section 7. Dissatisfaction with a result your Assistant could not control — or with an AI or automated preview that turned out to be off — is not, by itself, grounds to uphold a dispute. Signed Approvals and signed Best-Effort acknowledgments weigh heavily in our review.

Disputing Assistant Hours — you query one sitting, not the whole block. Prepurchased time works differently from a defined deliverable, so the remedy above (return the request's Credits, reassign the work) does not fit it: a month of good work should not be undone because one afternoon was wrong, and an Assistant should not lose a month's pay over it. Instead, every entry in your time ledger can be queried on its own. From the engagement's page, choose the entry and tell us why:

  • "This wasn't what I asked for" — work outside the mandate you set at intake;
  • "Not the priority order I set" — time spent on a lower priority while a higher one waited;
  • "Committed more than I authorized" — spending or commitments beyond the limits you set;
  • "This doesn't look like the time it took" — the minutes logged don't match the work described.

Note the reasons above are about the use of your time, not about how something turned out. Because an Hours block buys time and not a result, dissatisfaction with an outcome your Assistant could not control is not a basis to query an entry (Section 8).

Raising a query does not freeze your block — your remaining hours stay available and your Assistant keeps working while we look at it. Please raise it while the work is still fresh; your balance and ledger are on the page as they are spent, so the moment to speak up is when you see the entry.

If we uphold a query, that entry is written off: the time goes back onto your block to use, and your Assistant is not paid for it. If the block's window has already closed, the time is returned to you as Credits at the standard hourly rate instead. If we deny it, the entry stands and nothing changes. Everything else in this Section — that we are the final and binding arbiter, that the remedy is Credits and never cash, and the arbitration, chargeback and class-action terms below — applies to a queried entry exactly as it does to any other dispute.

Legal backstop — arbitration & chargeback waiver. The internal process above is your exclusive first remedy. Any dispute that is not resolved through it, and any other claim arising out of these Terms or your use of My Porchlight, shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Centre County, Pennsylvania, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and Pennsylvania law governs. You waive the right to initiate a credit-card chargeback for Credits or subscription fees; because the remedies above are available to you, an improper chargeback is a material breach of these Terms.

Class-action waiver. You and My Porchlight each agree that disputes will be resolved only on an individual basis. Neither of us will bring or participate in a class action, class-wide arbitration, private attorney-general action, or any other representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim — and only that claim — must proceed in court rather than arbitration. You and My Porchlight each also waive the right to a trial by jury.

11. Your Responsibilities & Conduct

You agree to give accurate information, to make only lawful requests, and to respond to Approvals in a timely way. You agree not to solicit, hire, or arrange to pay a Fractional Family Assistant off-platform for work of the kind we provide, during your subscription and for twelve (12) months afterward; Assistants are contracted through My Porchlight. Misuse, abusive conduct toward Assistants, or fraud may result in suspension or termination without refund.

12. Documents, Privacy & Administrative Access

You may store documents and household information with My Porchlight. We handle them according to our Privacy Policy (myporchlight.us/privacy). You authorize My Porchlight staff to access your account, and to use impersonation mode (which is logged), as needed to provide support, train Assistants, and review disputes. We may record or retain communications (calls, messages, and video) for quality, training, and dispute resolution. Recorded calls are announced at the start of the call. Calls your Assistant places to service providers on your behalf may be recorded and transcribed into your recommendation; you can turn provider-call recording off in your account settings, and your Assistant may place individual calls unrecorded. Where a call is not recorded, related disputes are adjudicated on your Assistant's contemporaneous notes and the other evidence on the request.

Health information. As a matter of policy, we do not digitize details of your or your family's health conditions. Your Assistant will keep anything related to a health condition general in our system (for example, "coordinated a specialist referral" — not the diagnosis), and will discuss specifics with you directly rather than recording them. If an Assistant keeps physical notes that mention health details, those notes are securely destroyed on a regular schedule (at least monthly). Please don't upload medical records or detailed health information into the document vault. Our Assistants agree to these handling rules and complete customer-privacy training and a refresher every six months (see the Assistant Agreement).

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Porchlight's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three (3) months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for the acts, omissions, pricing, or outcomes of any third-party provider, vendor, or professional, or for reliance on AI or automated output. We provide the service "as is" and disclaim all implied warranties to the extent permitted by law.

14. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, pandemics, labor disruptions, outages, or third-party failures.

15. Image and Intangible Use

My Porchlight retains rights to its own content, brand, templates, and materials. You grant us a non-exclusive right to use de-identified information about your requests to operate and improve the service. We do not claim ownership of your personal documents.

16. Exceptions to Terms

Any waiver or accommodation we extend to one customer does not modify these Terms for anyone else or waive our right to enforce them.

17. Mobile / SMS Terms

If you opt in to text messages, you consent to receive service and account messages from your Assistant's My Porchlight number at the number you provide. Message frequency varies with your requests. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

18. Changes, Termination & Contact

We may modify or discontinue the service or these Terms at any time, effective when posted. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation stops future billing and does not refund the current period.
